Temporary rule changes for Fencing and Armoured Combat (updated 26 Sept 2020)

(17 December 2021) Unto the Populace of Lochac does Leofric and Sabine send greetings.

There is an alteration to the Marshal’s Handbook pending that We would have the Population of the Crescent Isles made aware of, therefore, We are issuing the following Proclamation:

“For all combat marshals in New Zealand, at Red and Orange levels of the mundane COVID Protection Framework, marshals for combat activities must wear face coverings while conducting inspections and marshalling combat.”

(26 September 2020) This Royal Proclamation reconfirms some temporary rule changes for Fencing and Armoured Combat (below). These temporary changes will expire after 30 days from today unless renewed by a further proclamation, or incorporated into the handbooks.

For Fencing and Youth Fencing

In Australia

At the request of the Kingdom Seneschal, Marshals carrying out inspections for adult and youth rapier combat must wear fencing gloves and observe appropriate distancing as outlined in the low contact inspection procedure. If distance cannot be maintained, Marshals must wear face coverings. Please undertake these steps to ensure the safety of Marshals and combatants.

In New Zealand

At Alert Levels 1 and 2, inspections may be conducted as normal or using the low contact inspection procedure. Face coverings are not required. SCA combat activities are prohibited at Alert Levels 3 and 4.

In Australia

At the request of the Kingdom Seneschal, Marshals conducting armoured combat inspections and youth armoured combat inspections need to wear a face covering and gloves until advised otherwise. Please undertake these steps to ensure the health and safety of Marshals and combatants.

In New Zealand
